I don't know anything about all that. But I'm happy If I get to keep typing "FRACKING" here. And nobody sends me emails telling me to watch my language.

The WSJ used to be pretty good; then Murdoch bought it. Not worth the ink used to print it now.

If every adult in the USA were required to own at least 10 shares of an American oil company, there would be a whole lot less complaining going on.
(If we can be required to buy health insurance, why not require ownership in oil?)

cheap energy will do the same thing to liberals as putting a dutchman in a round room and telling 'em there's a penny in the corner.

I don't get it. The same people who complain about the huge profits the oil and gas companies make, are now warning people not to own these profitable, greedy companies because their profits are too RISKY?

Tnerbeel is correct. When I worked in the east Texas oil fields fracking was done towards the end of the production period of wells, causing the formation to release more of the crude it contained. Well locations often had frac tanks on them which contained the sand and solution used to pump down the well under high pressure. The sand granules acted as miniature swedges to open up and keep separated the layered structuring of, what in that area was called, the Austin Chalk formation, circa early '80s.

"America stands on the verge of a major change that puts it on a course to near self-sufficiency" in energy, says Tobias Levkovich, Citigroup's chief U.S. equity strategist, who says the energy surge is a key reason to be upbeat on the market and U.S. economy.
And our price at the pump continues to go up.??? If we are self sufficient, WHY...

I don't understand why fracking is mentioned so often as 'new' technology. It's been around for decades, close to 100 years as a matter of fact.

It's hard to invest in the volatile energy market - too many geo-political events directly cause big swings in the market.
